AA Bar and Grill – Eureka Sports Bar & Steakhouse
he AA Bar and Grill is located next to the Town House Motel in Eureka. Their specialty is steaks, and generally serve “pub grub and cocktails” in a casual neighborhood sports bar atmosphere. They are open daily from 8:30 a,m. to 10:30 p.m. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Don’t let the humble curbside appearance of the AA Bar and Grill fool you, as it doens’t look like much from the street. In a ‘local’ sense of the word it has the vibe as a ‘hole in the wall’ bar and grill, to be sure, but there is something very different about it. Besides probably having the cleanest fish tank in Humboldt County, it may well serve the best steak too. All you have to do is read their Trip Advisor reviews to get the lay of the land on this Eureka bar and steakhouse.
As one reviewer in a blog writes about the AA Bar and Grill: “I ordered a Filet and a Budweiser because the old guys in there all had Budweisers and it seemed like the right thing to do. When my filet came I asked for steak sauce like a little bitch. The bartender told me to not be a little bitch and try my steak first. She was right. No need for steak sauce. And I love steak sauce. It was Fantastic. God I love Dinner for Breakfast. I love eating at a bar. I love fishtanks. I don’t love Budweiser but it’s a pretty good breakfast beer.”
Don’t Tell Anyone
Another TripAdvisor reviewer (a local) reflected a common sentiment of a ‘local’ who had discovered a great dining experience flying under the radar: “Don’t tell anyone. This place is a geniue hidden gem. Right on 4th St in the center of Eureka, it looks like a seedy bar. Which it kinda has a reputation for being, or so I thought. We found it busy/hopping this Wednesday evening at 5 thru 7 pm with a mix of young professionals, sports fans and older couples. Heard the steaks were good. Wasn’t prepared for how amazing they actually are. Quality meat, cooked to perfection, seriously delicious. We regularly eat at all the expensive/fine heavy hitter eateries around here. None can hold a candle to these steaks. If you want ambiance, seriously go elsewhere. If you want a delicious steak, this is your place. Between the 3 of us we had a rib eye and split a porterhouse. Both epic, high quality steaks, and huge. The salads were small, basic, fresh, crisp, and fine. The fries and onion rings great, hot and not at all greasy. The stars here are the steaks. If you are a serious carnivore who loves steak (LOL) do not miss this place. And don’t let the curb appeal put you off. BUT ABOVE ALL . . . don’t tell anyone! Nancy – Bayside, CA TripAdvisor Diner
